Major Oaks Open Meet - Nov 2009
Pentaqua fielded a team of swimmers of all ages at the recent Mansfield Swimming Club's Major Oak Open Meet. The competition this year was tough, but many promising swimmers produced results of which they can be proud.
Jez Noonan, Team Manager for the event commented ‘It was really great for the swimmers to see the benefits of their training. We have introduced a new, more focused training regime over the past few months, and this has produced results for many of the swimmers as has been shown this weekend.'
The highlights of the weekend were the achievement of 44 Personal Best times, 70 Rankings claims, 105 County Qualifying times as well as 2 Midland times, and one swimmer now has a National Qualifying time within his sights!
The club this year has seen the standard of swimming improve as the results to date this season demonstrate -we have 53 swimmers who have achieved a total of 288 County Qualifying times, a step up from the 2008 season when we only achieved a total of 46 swimmers in this category for the whole season! Two of the swimmers who have achieved County Qualifying times this year train in the Improvers squad, with others in this group being very close to achieving this also - they will continue to build on the growing success of the club and its swimmers.
