About Us

City of Lincoln Pentaqua Swimming Club is a family friendly, competitive swimming club whose mission is to develop swimmers to achieve to the best of their ability and to compete at the highest levels within the sport.

The club is for all and we aim to attract swimmers from all sections of the local community, irrespective of age, gender, race, religious beliefs or ability.

We are a Swim England, Lincolnshire ASA and Swim England East Midlands affiliated club, with SwimMark accreditation as a club.

Our Vision

City of Lincoln Pentaqua will provide professional swimming coaching for all age groups and abilities. We will provide competitive pathways that enable our swimmers to compete in local, regional and national competitions in a safe, friendly and fun environment where individuals and teams are committed and able to be the best they can be.

Our Mission

  • To encourage individuals to take part in swimming regardless of age/ ability

  • To provide an inclusive swimming club with a culture that enables each individual swimmer to realise their potential

  • To provide a structured, safe environment for swimmers to develop their swimming and life skills

  • To provide swimming lessons from "Learn to Swim" through to Masters, at times, locations and cost that makes swimming accessible to all.

  • To pursue excellence by seeking continuous improvement at all levels within the club

  • To deliver Swim England training and coaching in line with the Long Term Athlete Development Pathway

Our Values

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect

  • Every member learns the values of sportsmanship and team work

  • Fun, commitment and enthusiasm

We believe in our young swimmers having fun, enjoying their sport but also ask them to work hard, learn and to strive for improvement. All learn to swim and junior teaching is conducted in a specially designed swim school which offers an environment geared towards the Fundamentals of Swimming and Swim England's Long Term Athlete Development Plan.

As swimmers move up through the club, the focus is very much on competitive swimming with swimmers  going on to represent the club at inter-club galas, in the Lincolnshire leagues, County Competitions, Midland and National level competitions.

We are also keen to provide a healthy social side to the club and arrange a number of events during the year. Everyone has a place within Pentaqua's squad structure, which provides an opportunity for our members to participate in a programme of swimming development and competition in a progressively structured framework, according to their individual levels of ambition, ability and application.

The success of our club is largely due to the commitment and skill of our team qualified and dedicated volunteer coaching and management team together with the opportunities we offer to young swimmers. These opportunities include a Learn to Swim Scheme, Development Squads, Coaching Squads, through to Masters.

Learn to Swim Scheme & Improver Squads

Pentaqua and The Priory Witham Academy, De Wint Avenue, Lincoln, offer a dedicated Learn to Swim Academy for beginners and improvers. Our instructors are all well qualified and DBS checked.

Swimmers will follow a detailed plan constructed to help equip our young swimmers with the necessary skills to develop in the water. Classes are offered in termly cycles.

At the end of each cycle, swimmers will be assessed and be given to opportunity to achieve distance/skill awards at an appropriate level. Swimmers need to achieve the minimum criteria set in order to progress onto the next stage. The criteria for each level can be found on the Pentaqua Learn to Swim Academy website.

Competitive Squads & Performance Swimmers

The Club structure supports swimming coaching sessions across 41 pool hours per week. This ranges through various squads that cater for the development of competitive swimmers through to National standard and also the needs of Swimfit and Masters swimmers.

Disability Athletes

City of Lincoln Pentaqua Swimming Club is proud to have been designated Swim England's Disability Hub Club for the northern part of Lincolnshire and looks forward to welcoming and developing more disability swimmers.

Deepings Swimming Club is the Disability Hub Club for the south of the county and Louth covers the Eastern area.  The aim of a Disability Hub Club is to welcome disabled swimmers to the world of swimming, assess skills and potential and provide information on clubs and swim schools to enable swimmers to develop further.
